| After rewatching the first 2 eps of this show, and remembering other shows, do you guys think it's justified of the people in charge to keep the general public from knowing about every major threat we face?
Could we handle such information?

Call me cynical, but I don't trust the general (moronic) public to not riot and lose their shit upon release of such information. People can't contain themselves when politics gets messy, why would they be able to do so with the arrival of aliens and superheroes? It'd be more pain and more suffering than morally justifiable to release information like this publicly.
That goes for mundane things, as well. Telling people of direct mass threats to them never ends well. We get hicks with shot guns and rifles standing on their front porch looking out. What's the point of it?
I'd much rather be in the dark than see the public aftermath of the discovery.

| I actually agree with F. I don't think the general public would know how to handle such news without rioting. I believe for most, the first reaction would be to horde as much whatever it is they thing it's needed for survival as they can. So unless absolutely necessary, people shouldn't know about possible threats.
The trick of course would be in determining when would be the right time to announce something.
