Synopsis: Self-delusion meets illusion when Bo and Dyson take on a case in the world of new age psychology, and Bo suffers the consequences of denying her ravenous hunger. Kenzi feels the weight of trying to find a place in her friends’ new lives – leaving her vulnerable to an impending threat.

The whole purpose of this episode from what I could see was to prove from start to finish that Bo and Lauren had some major incompatibility issues.
It starts with a steamy sex scene, and Bo wants to keep going and going. Lauren is surprised she got some lovin' after apparently having a lot of sex with Bo the night before, but she needs to get to work and reluctantly Bo lets her go. Lauren's expression when she's by herself is not a happy one. She's exhausted. And Bo is not getting what she needs to survive, much less to deal with any injuries.
Later, we see a major personality clash as Lauren is offended that Bo would pretend to be a doctor and that she's putting down what it takes to become a doctor. It was an important stand off because it showed to me that they were coming from two different worlds and viewed life very differently.
Bo feels bad about having to heal. She feels BAD about it. Because she wants so badly to be monogamous with Lauren, but it's just not possible. And Lauren finally acknowledges that they'd been kidding themselves that Bo could be faithful to a human and accepts that she needs outside help...but I think she's kind of continuing a different type of wishful thinking. She loves Bo, she wants Bo, and she thinks she can handle what it takes to keep a succubus happy and healthy. But I think in the end she came to terms with the fact that she would never be happy and fulfilled. And I think Fae-de to Black and the incidents within had key moments that acted as catalysts for the final breakup. "And I wonder...can you really know yourself without memory? Good points, but Lauren always thought the outside help for feeding & keeping Bo healthy was only temporary. Wasn't she looking for some sort of wonder drug that would take away Bo's need to feed on the sexual chi of others?
The exchanges about Bo having to fake being a doctor... that was *sigh* I admit I wanted to throw something at Lauren with the way she was putting down Bo. I get it. Being a doctor takes years of training and as science geek myself I can see where she was going with it. Bo, in her quest of solving the case could have caused some serious damage to the patients she was seeing. I get that. BUT Lauren could have worded her concerns a lot better. For starters, it could have been done without making Bo feel like an idiot. "My personality is who I am... my attitude depends on who you are..."
We know in the beginning of the series that she was treating Bo to help her curb her hunger so she wasn't dangerous to humans, and we know that at least through Arachnofaebia that Bo was still on the injections. All throughout the season, Lauren had been working with Bo behind the scenes to help her learn how to cope with her hunger and not let it take over. In Food for Thought, she tests her a little and of course we see Bo feeding off a human and willing herself to stop on her own, which was a first for her in her life. By Vexed, she was worried about hurting Lauren, but eventually succumbed and, of course, was able to sleep with her without killing her.
By the first episode of Season 2, Lauren was surprised to see that Bo was still injured, that she fed off a human only enough to heal the most dangerous part of her injuries but that she was able to stop herself from killing. To my knowledge, that was the first time she was able to keep her hunger at bay when wounded. So she had learned a lot of control by that point. There's no mention of injections after Arachnofaebia that I could tell and Bo hated Lauren's guts for several episodes so I doubt she would have gone to her for anything.
The next time we hear about injections is Fae-de to Black and it seems to specifically be about Lauren and Bo using them to make it so that Bo would be monogamous. I just listened to the scene again, and I've walked away with the same feeling. My sense is that Bo started taking injections again so she could be faithful to Lauren, and they had worked for awhile but for some reason weren't working anymore.
